Dr. Sarah Smithson is the Director of Relational Leadership @ Carolina. She serves as the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education and Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Sarah earned degrees in medicine and public health from Emory University before completing Internal Medicine residency training at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. Sarah thrives in interprofessional collaborations around leadership development and innovation in health systems, communication, and team-based care delivery. She is an Assistant Professor in the Division of General Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology where she practices outpatient primary care in Internal Medicine. Sarah lives in Durham and loves spending time with her husband and two sons.
