Karissa M Giovannini, MSW, LCSW, received her Master’s in Social Work degree in 2018 from Simmons College School of Social work with a specialized focus in trauma informed care. Karissa is a clinical social worker at Boston Medical Center in Project RESPECT. In her role, Karissa focuses on the impact of trauma on child and family development including intergenerational considerations, communities, and addressing systemic injustices. Karissa began her career at Boston Medical Center in the Emergency Department, with a specialized focus on pediatric care. Her extensive background in crisis intervention through work as a therapeutic mentor delivering community based services to children and families through the Child Behavioral Health Initiative, combined with history of working in residential treatment settings and pediatric primary care, fostered her family centered and community based approach.
