Derek McCracken, MS, MA is a Narrative Medicine Educator at Say Ah! and a Lecturer in Narrative Medicine Pedagogy at Columbia University, where he also serves as the faculty advisor for the Social Justice in Narrative Medicine Initiative. He is currently leading a team to design and launch Activating Racial Justice Through Narrative Negotiation, an interdisciplinary project sponsored by the Columbia Provost Seed Grant Anti-Racism Initiative. Derek’s background in creative product development, arts journalism and health literacy inform his ongoing research into how health justice can be achieved through messaging, design and performance. He is a board member of Say Ah! and part of the Intellus Worldwide Health Literacy Initiative.
