Dr. Cristina Muñiz de la Peña is a counseling psychologist, co-founder and prior director of mental health services of Terra Firma: Healthcare and Justice for Immigrant Youth, a program designed to address the needs of unaccompanied immigrant children comprehensively. Cristina completed her doctorate at the State of New York at Albany and has since specialized in trauma, family-systems therapy, the therapeutic relationship, multicultural sensitivity and advocacy. She has published about her work with at risk youth both in the US and Spain. She has presented internationally about her work and has participated actively in advocacy in defense of migrant children’s rights. Currently, Cristina lives in Spain and teaches at the International University of la Rioja and has a private practice in Madrid.
