Senior Assessment Scientist in the Center for Advanced Assessment, National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME)

Ann King, MA, is a senior assessment scientist in the Center for Advanced Assessment at the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). King has thirty-five years of experience in the field of clinical skills assessment, including 30 years with the NBME. King led the test development unit that launched the United States Medical Licensing Exam, Step 2 Clinical Skills Exam in 2004. Presently, she is developing a next generation communication assessment tool which utilizes crowdsourced raters to assess and enhance clinician communication skills. King has mentored leaders in medical education at more than 100 medical schools in the United States and abroad. She has published and presented extensively on high-stakes assessments using standardized patients, and is a recipient of the Outstanding Educator Award from the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE).
