Request for Abstracts 2022

  • The Compassion in Action Healthcare Conference offers compassionate healthcare workers and leaders access to the insight, tools, and knowledge to advance healing relationships of care. Dynamic, engaging keynotes, panels, and workshops from world-class researchers and practitioners offer community and inspiration as we work together to sustain a culture of compassion in healthcare. We invite you to submit your work for presentation that is related to one of the six themes of the virtual 2022 Compassion in Action Healthcare Conference. These themes are the 6 key principles of our Healing Healthcare Initiative. They promote healing and organizational flourishing. The themes are as follows:
    • Psychological and physical safety and support
Healthcare workers share the belief that they can safely ask questions and raise tough issues and that their views will be respected, and have processes in place to do so. They are supplied with adequate resources and policies to ensure both their physical safety and their ability to provide safe care.
    • Well-being, mental health and sense of purpose
Leaders and managers engage with healthcare workers to understand their needs, initiate policies and practices, and allocate resources to support their well-being and mental health
    • Diversity and equity
Healthcare leaders commit to increasing diversity at all levels of the organization/system, -- from the workforce to the board room --, and commit resources to ensure that all healthcare workers have what they need to succeed.
    • Inclusion, voice and choice
Healthcare workers are involved in decisions that affect their work and practice, work/life balance, and ability to provide compassionate, high-quality care.
    • Trustworthiness and transparency
Healthcare workers are informed about where their organization and work units stand on the issues most important to them, including the key principles of the HHI Framework, recruitment, staffing, engagement and other issues.
    • Team cohesiveness and collaboration
Teams are able to communicate frequently, and learn about and from each other to foster shared goals, knowledge and mutual respect within work units and across the organization.

The conference will take place virtually on June 14-15, 2022. Submissions are due February 4, 2022.

Individuals whose abstracts are accepted will be expected to register for the conference. Scholarships will be available for qualified candidates.
